Adolfo del Campo obtained his Bachelor degree in Chemistry at the University of Valladolid in 1994. Then, he started his PhD in the Organic Chemistry Department of the University of Valladolid in the development of biodegradable polymers for biomedical applications. After his PhD he moved to the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology (ICTP-CSIC) and in 1999 he obtained the Master on High Specialization in Plastics and Rubber. During this period at the ICTP he participated in the development of several research projects with industries, such as ELASTORSA, REPSOL and TECNILATEX. In 2006 he moved to the Institute of Ceramic and Glass (ICV-CSIC) where he currently works as member of the technical staff in charge of the Raman Confocal Microscopy. Besides, he is involved in the research group “Ceramic for Smart Systems”. At present his research is focused in the study and characterization of materials by Raman Confocal Microscopy coupled with atomic force microscopy (AFM), in particular: microstructural characterization of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, ceramic glazes with advanced properties, structural and morphological characterization of polymeric systems, hierarchically structured surfaces prepared by the “Breath Figures” method, study of nanoparticles and nanosystems, i.e. Graphene.
